Obama Wins

Barack Obama U.S President Re-elect

President Barack Obama has won re-election

Incumbent U.S President Barack Obama has been re-elected as President of the United States beating his republican challenger Mitt Romney.

Barack Obama has secured more than the required 270 electoral votes needed for one to take the White House.

With most of the votes counted, Obama has polled 290 against Mitt Romney’s 203. Obama won the key swing state of Ohio.

In a message released on social networking site twitter, Obama said, “This happened because of you…four more years”.

President Obama has been re-elected despite dissatisfaction over the economy that he had promised to heal during his 2008 campaigns.

Political pundits credit Obama’s re-election to his support for among others gay marriage, abortion. The gay lobby group is among the strongest in the United States.

Although the economy took centre stage in the campaigns, abortion and gay rights were key for Obama’s victory. Obama has liberal views on the issues compared to Romney who maintains conservative views on homosexuality and abortion.

Obama’s re-election is a vote of confidence Americans have shown in the country’s first black President, a victory that will give the republicans a nasty dose of reality.

Republicans had hoped that Obama’s poor performance in the first Presidential debate coupled with his failed promises would drive voters away from the President.

However all is not lost for republicans as they retained control of the House of Representatives, beating back a strong Democratic challenge.

Obama can now focus his energies on further improving U.S’ economy by creating job opportunities, and dealing with an aspiring nuclear Iran.

President Obama’s message to supporters, “I’m about to go speak to the crowd here in Chicago, but I wanted to thank you first. I want you to know that this wasn’t fate, and it wasn’t an accident. You made this happen. You organized yourselves block by block. You took ownership of this campaign five and ten dollars at a time. And when it wasn’t easy, you pressed forward.

I will spend the rest of my presidency honoring your support, and doing what I can to finish what we started. But I want you to take real pride, as I do, in how we got the chance in the first place. Today is the clearest proof yet that, against the odds, ordinary Americans can overcome powerful interests.

There’s a lot more work to do. But for right now: Thank you.”

  1. Yes, because he is for the ordinalry American, he had to win. Repulicans must know that unless they change their stand from the rich to the poor, it will take them some time before returning to the white house! It is highly likely that the forth coming demoscratic candidate (another youngman whose name I just forgotten) is going to use same tactics like Obama and still beat them hands down.

  2. How i wish Hillary Clinton succeeds Obama as another democrat and we do away with the out of touch republicans for a while
