Okwi Set To Fly To Tanzania On Tuesday

oKwiiInformation reaching Red Pepper Online Sport indicates that Uganda Cranes and former Simba striker Emmanuel Okwi is expected to land in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday, 17th December to finalize his move to Tanzania giants Yanga.

Okwi penned a two and a half year deal with the mainland side and he could face his former club Simba in a rivalry clash between the two sides on Saturday at the National Stadium.

” We have completed the signing of Okwi on a two and a half year deal,” Yanga’s information officer Baraka Kizuguto confirmed to sources.

“We are happy to sign him, and we expect him to arrive in Dar es Salaam soon. And also, we want him to play the match against Simba in the weekend,” he added.

The 21 year old who earlier this year was sold by Simba to Tunisian side Etoile du Sahel was cleared to play for Ugandan side SC Villa by World soccer governing body (Fifa) under its Player Status Committee following the failure of the Tunisian side to pay the player’s salary and his $300,000 transfer fees.

  1. So, just after a short sojourn at the Villa Park Okwi is off! What is wrong with this club? While clubs invest in quality players to remain in competition, Villa is a temporary shop for players, interested in profit only! God, where is our old Sc Villa?
