“I received my formal appointment on the 23rd last month and I am preparing to go to The Hague for talks with various stakeholders like the ICC presidency and international defence lawyers already on the team on how to proceed,” Mr Ayena said.

“This being an international case, they all don’t have to necessarily come from Uganda but with consultation of my client we will see how to go forward.”

Mr Ayena once served as LRA’s legal adviser during the unsuccessful peace talks with government of Uganda in 2006/2007.

Dr Riek Machar was the chief mediator.
