Renowned gospel artist Eglas Anyait Dikan is dead.
She passed away on Thursday, at 2:40 pm at Soroti Regional Referral hospital where she had been admitted for nearly a month.
Samuel Isale, a nephew and her caretaker during her hospitalization said Dikan had composed five albums by the time of her death.
Some of her most well-known songs include, He will wipe your tears away, It doesn’t matter, Who is greater, It excites me, I believe, God loves, Oh righteous man and Ejai Edeke.
A famous worship team leader in Teso, John Eitu the bishop of Global churches said Dikan’s death had deprived the church of an inspirational figure.
Pastor Justus Aporu Akol, a gospel artist, received news of Dikan’s death with shock.
Akol said that Dikan possessed a unique gift in crafting her compositions. He said she combined her unique gift with a winning personality that drew people to her.
Her last album called the devil can’t stop me was launched on Easter Eve in 2011 at Soroti hotel.
Dikan’s sister Christine Amujaj described her as a lovely and caring person who united the family like a mother although she was their last born.
Dikan was the daughter of the late Rev. Canon Eriezali Dikan and late Dinah Anyait from Bukedea district.
She passed away at the age of 42.
