UPC Fired From Opposition
Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) is not part of the new shadow cabinet released yesterday.
Leader of opposition in Parliament Winnie Kizza said UPC has been dropped because one its wing led by Jimmy Akena is in talks with the ruling party (NRM) to form an alliance.
President Museveni appointed UPC’s Betty Amongi as head of Lands, Housing & Urban Development ministry. She is the wife of Jimmy Akena.
It’s rumoured that there are ongoing negotiations between NRM and UPC and Museveni could appoint Akena as third deputy prime minister.
