Those seeking to contest in the coming general elections of 2026 have started mobilizing voters with the promise of improving service delivery.
Ambrose Tumwesigye Kibuuka, a member of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), is among those seeking to contest against the Rujumbura county Member of Parliament and Minister of Security Rtd.Major General Jim Muhwezi.
Mobilisation efforts are already in gear.
While addressing residents of Bikurungu Town Council he said that Rujumbura has lagged behind in development with schools, roads and health care all in bad shape.
He says his decision to stand in 2026 is God’s calling.
“God chose me when I was young to lead the people of Rujumbura for a developmental change in parliament come 2026. I want to make sure I’m there I’m reachable and I’m with them over time. I want to make sure people also enjoy other necessities,” said Kibuuka.
During the gathering, over 300 youth converted from National Unity platform and three from FDC to PLU. FDC’s Esau Karuhize the Speaker of Bikurungu Town Council, Olivia Tukamuhebwa the Western Division Councilor in Bikurungu Town council and Fred Turyatunga pledged to support Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba as the next President.
“Patriotic league of Uganda (PLU) is a pressure group not a political party but it has strong principles that can lead to the development of Uganda by General Muhoozi Kainerugaba as the chairman,” Kibuuka stressed.
