One body recovered from Bulambuli tragic Floods and Mudslides

Following the recent tragic floods and mudslides in Bulambuli District that swept off crops and Property, locals had intensified a search for the suspected missing persons.

The such that had taken over two days saw the residents of  Bugimwera Parish, Masoola village retrieve a body of one of the persons who was buried during the mudslides.

The deceased was identified as Maku Milton who was found dead and covered by mud and the debris. Maku’s search started after rumour went around that there was a suck of cabbage that was found. Suspicion grew that the owner of might have perished in the mudslide.

The tragic incident the happened in Bumasobo sub-county, Bulambuli district has seen several locals counting losses after their property was washed away.

According to the locals, several of them are living in fear after the area developed big cracks signifying there would be yet another mudslide in a nearby future.

Floods triggered by heavy rains have left a trail of destruction of over five bridges in Bulambuli district. This has paralysed movement in the area.

The bridges that include Totia, Natanyo, Kyambo, Monye, and Galusha were washed away when River Simu burst it’s banks after a 3 hour of a heavy downpour.

Charles Nangayi, the LC3 chairperson of Bumasobo sub-county asserted that heavy rains started from the forest and suddenly, the volumes of water was witnessed increasing from the lower belts.

Michael Webaza, a teacher at Bumasobo Secondary School revealed that the learners and residents can’t access Buwakadala sub-county because of the destroyed bridges.
