ARUA. The Minister of Investment and Privatization, Evelyn Anite has commended Artists for the role they are playing in creating jobs for hundreds of youths in the country.

According to Anite, many Ugandans have got jobs through the musical shows staged by Artists across the country thus contributing to the economy of the country.

Anite made the remarks on Friday ahead of Artiste Joseph Mayanja aka Dr. Jose Chameleon’s show at Le Confidentiel Hotel in Arua town today.

Chameleon is accompanied by his younger brother, Weasel for the early Christmas show that will feature local artists, Free boy Adams of Kwata e simu fame and the West Nile duo, the Black Harmony.

But during a press conference, Anite recognized the contribution of Ugandan Artists to the development of the country through job creation.

“We know that the biggest challenge in the country, especially in our region, is the issue of unemployment and that is why we are creating jobs. All those young people that we have got to come and work on this day you are performing is a source of employment. We have over 50 young people whom we have got here and given them the opportunity to actually work because of legends like you Jose Chameleon. I want to tell you that what you have brought to the people of West Nile is not only entertainment but it is also job creation,” Anite stated.

“So, for me I am just excited about the job creation aspect of it but also it is financial inclusion and that is why a representative from DTB Bank is here to take part in this event. As you all know, I am a leader in West Nile and a politician but most importantly, I love my people of West Nile and I thought by bringing Dr. Jose Chameleon to West Nile as majority of the people of West Nile speak Kiswahili and majority of his songs are in Kiswahili, there is no better person from the cry of my people than giving them an early Christmas of Jose Chameleon. So, I’m very happy that today we are having him here,” Anite added.

On his part, Chameleon said his purpose of coming to Arua this time round is to inspire the young people.

“Yes, I have been to Arua for so many times but I want to tell my people that today is a different day. This time my sister Anite told me that we are going to make the day different. Indeed, we have been coming to Arua to make money and to dance about but this time we have brought music. When people say you are legendary that means you have a story,” Chameleon said.

“So, let us put the money making aside. My brothers and sisters, this time we have music not on CD but it is music on live procession. I want to thank Ugandans for lifting me, I want to thank my Arua brothers and sisters in the neighborhood of West Nile altogether. I would never be a complete Jose Chameleon without you. So, now I come to share with you a different day; Saturday is for our Christmas,” Chameleon said.

Chameleon noted that he will today join the people of West Nile in celebrating the achievement of Ugandan music, celebrate the strides made by the young people and above all, celebrate Dr. Jose Chameleon as a person.
