Kabale tailor jailed for 70 years for killing two girlfriends

The High Court in Kabale has sentenced 25 years old Denis Arinaitwe  a  tailor in Kabale to 70  years in prison for the heinous double murder of his two lovers of  a female police  officer and a varsity student.

Court that was presided over by the Kabale resident Judge Justice Samuel Emokor heard from the prosecution that Denis Arinaitwe,  caused the double murder of his two lovers while at Rwamukundi village, Kirigime ward, Southern division in Kabale Municipality and Kabale Central Police Station cause the death by shooting   police officer who was attached to the Field Force Unit (FFU).

Prosecution told court that Arinaitwe caused the double murder of his two lovers Sarah Naturinda a second-year student at Kabale university whose body was found in her rented room in Rwamukundi village, Kirigime ward, Southern division in Kabale Municipality, The body was found with a piece of cloth tied to the neck, hands, and mouth.

Prosecution further told court  that After the first murder incident, he proceeded to Kabale Central Police Station and shot dead a police officer, Constable Caroline Owomugisha, who was attached to the Field Force Unit (FFU) over domestic wrangles on

After the double murders, Arinaitwe attempted suicide by shooting himself with the gun that he had grabbed from the police Constable Naturinda but he was rushed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital where he was treated.

When the charges were read for him a frail looking Arinaitwe   pleaded guilty to all charges before Justice Emokor through his lawyers said that he is regretful of the acts that he did that led to the death of his two lovers.

High Court Judge Samuel Emokor described his actions as barbaric and savage stressing the sacredness of each life and the gruesome nature of Arinaitwe crimes sentenced him to 70 years in prison on the two counts of murder each 35n years but he is top serve the sentenced concurrently  then said that  Arinaitwe  has the right to appeal the sentence length but not his conviction.

Justice Emokor  said that  This should serve as deterrent measure to others, that want to take law into own hands and think can go scot free with it Rather, they should always settle their misunderstandings in an amicable manner than taking law into own hands.
