He says “People have called me a young man with nothing. They say I haven’t gone to school. But I ask what have those with power and money done for our people?” Owino challenged during a local engagement. “True leadership is not in titles or wealth, but in transforming lives.”

Owino, who has spent years working with women’s groups, training youth in model farming techniques, and championing economic self-sufficiency, has criticized the traditional political elite for neglecting local infrastructure, education, and health services. “Why don’t we have a technical school in our community? Why are our hospitals dysfunctional while others thrive? Why are our children walking miles just to dream of education?”

He praised the peace and democratic space ushered in by the NRM government under President Yoweri Museveni, but urged a shift in focus toward socio-economic transformation. “Agriculture remains our backbone 90% which our people rely on it. Yet without innovation and planning, we will continue to struggle,” he noted.

A firm believer in entrepreneurship as a path out of poverty, Owino is calling for practical solutions like year-round farming, value addition, and accessible education centers. “Let us invest in model farms, food production, and strategic education so our people can feed their children and fuel the nation’s economy,” he said.

He also condemns divisive politics, violence, and “remote-controlled” leaders who jump between political parties. “Leadership must be consistent, rooted in purpose not performance. The people deserve leaders who stay the course.”

Simon Owino’s steady rise reflects a growing appetite for a new generation of leaders—entrepreneurial, connected to the people, and committed to building institutions, not just campaigns.

As he continues to engage communities, particularly the youth and women, Owino emphasizes that the future belongs to those who build, not those who merely promise. “No one has a monopoly on money or leadership. The power belongs to the people—and they are ready to choose wisely.”
