Chameleone, Bebecool Clash Over Sh5m ‘Peanut Pay’ At Munyonyo NRM Gig

Word from the entertainment grapevine has it that music doctor Joseph Mayanja aka Chameleone is breathing fire after allegedly pocketing only Sh5 million from the NRM manifesto launch gig held at Munyonyo last week.

The Leone Island boss, who was among the top entertainers invited to spice up President Museveni’s 2026–2031 manifesto launch, gave a thrilling performance — but was left fuming soon after discovering what the organisers paid him.
Sources close to the “Basiima Ogenze” hitmaker say Chameleone expected a “fat envelope” of at least Sh50 million, given the high-profile nature of the event and the political crowd in attendance.
“He was called by fellow singer Bebe Cool to perform. He thought it was a big deal — only to find a small brown envelope with just five million!” a close pal whispered to Red Pepper.
The source adds that Chameleone has vowed to “follow up the matter” if anyone chopped his pay along the way.
Meanwhile, insiders claim Bebe Cool, who has been the point man for most NRM entertainment gigs, handled most of the artiste coordination — something that could stir fresh drama in the camp.
For now, Chameleone is said to be keeping his cool but insiders warn he’s ready to roar if his missing millions don’t show up soon.
Word in the camp is that Chameleone suspects middlemen played tricks with his pay, and he’s not taking it lightly.
As tempers rise, sources hint that this could reignite the silent beef between the two music generals — Bebe Cool and Chameleone — just when the NRM music front looked united.
