Van Meter writes that, at one point during the alleged incident, “one of the policemen had a gun to Kim’s head,” which Farjam described as “intense.” (Kardashian and West are seen above with Uganda President Yoweri Museveni.)

KAMPALA — A shocking account of an alleged security scare involving American reality TV star Kim Kardashian during her 2018 visit to Uganda with then-husband Kanye West has emerged, with a new biography claiming that an armed police officer pointed a gun at her head.

The explosive revelation is contained in Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future, a biography by journalist Jonathan Van Meter, which examines Kardashian’s rise to global fame, business empire and turbulent personal life.

According to the account, Farnaz Farjam, an executive producer of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, recalled that what began as a filming trip to a remote location in Uganda allegedly descended into a frightening confrontation after West became agitated and suspicious.

Farjam reportedly told Van Meter that West convinced Ugandan Police that people were attempting to drug him, prompting officers to respond with guns drawn.

“He basically got the local police to believe that people were trying to drug him and so they came and they had guns out,” Farjam is quoted as saying in the book.

The producer further alleged that West had police search everyone’s rooms as tensions escalated during the trip.

But the most alarming claim concerns Kardashian herself.

According to Van Meter’s account of Farjam’s recollection, one of the armed officers allegedly put a gun to Kardashian’s head, turning the filming expedition into a potentially dangerous ordeal.

“It was intense,” Farjam reportedly said.

With the situation allegedly spiralling out of control, Farjam said she arranged a private jet to evacuate the production crew from the location.

The account raises fresh questions about what unfolded behind the scenes during the couple’s Uganda visit, which attracted international attention at the time.

It is not clear where the incident happened exactly. But during their stay in Uganda the couple were residing at Chobe Safari lodge in Marchiosn falls national park.

PRODUCER’S ACCOUNT

Farjam reportedly said she eventually forgave West, believing his behaviour at the time was connected to his bipolar disorder and what she understood to be a manic episode.

The book places the alleged confrontation against the backdrop of mounting public scrutiny of West’s behaviour in 2018, including his outspoken political comments and controversial public appearances.

Kardashian, who married West in 2014 before their divorce was finalised in 2022, later spoke publicly about the challenges associated with his mental health.

In 2020, she urged the public to approach people experiencing mental health struggles with compassion, describing West as a “brilliant but complicated person.”

QUESTIONS OVER UGANDA TRIP

West’s Uganda visit drew international attention, but the newly recounted allegation of an armed officer pointing a gun at Kardashian’s head adds a dramatic new dimension to the story.

The claim, as presented in the biography, is based on Farjam’s recollection as relayed by Van Meter. The account does not, by itself, establish whether a police officer’s actions were independently documented or whether Ugandan authorities have responded to the allegation.

The revelation is likely to renew interest in the couple’s visit and the circumstances surrounding the reported security scare.

For now, the alleged gunpoint encounter remains a claim attributed to the former Keeping Up With the Kardashians producer in the new biography.

Last month, Kardashian was awarded one euro ($1.15) in compensation by a Paris court for having been the victim of an armed robbery in the French capital in 2016.

Kardashian lost $10million-worth of jewelry in the terrifying October 2016 raid, including a $4million engagement ring from her ex-husband, the rapper Kanye West, that has never been recovered.

Two of the robbers, dressed as police, forced their way into her suite, bound Kardashian with zip ties and tape, leaving the reality star fearing she would be raped or murdered.

Because of their ages, the robbers became known in France as ‘les papys braqueurs,’ or the grandpa robbers. Six of them were in their 60s and 70s when they were tried for armed robbery, kidnapping, gang association and other charges.

Kardashian has sought to move on since the court last year found eight people guilty for their roles in what the celebrity described as ‘the most terrifying experience of my life.’

The one euro was the amount of compensation she had asked for, according to a lawyer involved in the case.

In last month’s joint statement with stylist Simone Harouche, who was present during the robbery, Kardashian expressed gratitude to the French justice system.

‘The experience was deeply traumatic, and its impact has stayed with us. Today´s decision is not about the compensation, but about accountability and recognition.

‘We are thankful to the Court and everyone who supported us throughout this process, and we hope to now move forward and continue to heal.’

The court awarded a former receptionist at the Hôtel de Pourtalès 109,516 euros ($126,472), according to his lawyer. Kardashian had been staying at the hotel when the robbery gang targeted her.

The receptionist said he had been traumatized by the October 2, 2016, jewel heist during Fashion Week. He had sought 550,000 euros ($634,868) in damages and interest. His lawyer, Mohand Ouidja, welcomed the decision as a victory.

The court awarded the hotel 50,000 euros ($57,741). It awarded 1 euro – the amount she had requested – to Harouche, Kardashian´s stylist who was present during the robbery.

With time already served in pretrial detention, none of those found guilty went back to prison. None of them appealed the verdict.

Kardashian said in a statement issued after their conviction that she was ‘deeply grateful to the French authorities for pursuing justice in this case.’
