Court Frees Jamwa From Luzira Because He’s Too Fat

Former NSSF managing director, David Chandi Jamwa, has been released on bail by the The Supreme Court in Kampala because he’s too obese and fat to survive behind bars.

Jamwa’s bail terms were that he deposits Shs10 million in court while each of his five sureties were each bonded Shs 500 million not cash.

“He is released on a cash bail of shs10 million and he is required to surrender to the court registrar his passport with a promise that he will not apply for a new one when it expires in October 2018,” said Justice Stella Arachi Amoko in a ruling read by court registrar Godfrey Opefen.

Jamwa was also ordered to deposit a land title for a property in Munyonyo under the name his wife of Catherine Jamwa.

In 2010, the Anti-Corruption Court  found Jamwa guilty of causing financial loss to NSSF for  having sold  NSSF bonds to the now defunct  Crane Bank before their maturity dates, causing  a financial loss of three billion shillings to NSSF.
