Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Abel Dhaira has joined striker Emmanuel Okwi in Simba  after completing his move from IBV Vestmannaeyjar in Iceland to the Tanzanian side.

Details of the deal remain scanty but reports in Tanzania indicate the 25-year-old has been signed for a fee in the region of $40,000 (Shs108m) on a two-year contract this week.

The development comes after Dhaira’s contract with IBV expired. “My contract with IBV was done and I had to look for another club,” said the former Express player.

Dhaira, who has suffered injuries in his career, is just recovering from an eye surgery for the cut he received in the Cecafa Tusker Cup opener against Kenya last month, an injury that definitively ruled him out of the tournament.

To him, the news of joining Simba comes as a relief. “We finally came to an agreement and I signed a two year contract,” he said, adding, “It was a good deal and l thank God it went through. I feel blessed because Simba showed a lot of interest even when l was injured.”
