Aborted Buikwe Game Fate Yet To Known

The Disciplinary Committee of the FUFA Super League Limited (FSLL) met on Thursday evening to make a ruling on the abandoned game between Vipers SC and SC Villa played on November 5 in Buikwe.

Mujib Kasule, the FA Vice President in charge of the league, confirmed that they have been gathering information related to that aborted match and will make sure they also met the match officials.

Fred Kitaka, an ardent Vipers FC fan, was arrested on Tuesday evening after running battles between the home team’s fans and supporters of SC Villa. Several people were seriously injured and a lot of property destroyed.

By yesterday Kitaka, who is accused by Villa fans as having played a key role in the mayhem, was still under custody at Lugazi Police Station.

The match was abandoned after the referee felt security at the stadium was not sufficient enough and he refused to start the second half when the fourth official had been hit by an object.

“We shall make sure a ruling is made very quickly and some of the fans who are identified to have thrown objects will be banned from accessing the Stadiums,” said Kasule.

None of the teams had scored a goal by the time the match was abandoned.

Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic was also present in Buikwe to watch some of the players in action as he tries to identify players to be picked for the forthcoming CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup and the 2014 Africa Nations Championships in South Africa.
