All Luzira Inmates Pass UCE Exams

Despite the challenges of lack of enough facilitation and inadequate study materials, all the 38 candidates from Luzira maximum prison who sat for UCE exams have undoubtedly passed.

Four inmates passed in Division one, nine in division two, 12 in division three and 13 are in division four. All of them are males.

Dennis Mujuni, the head teacher of the school described the performance as excellent.

“This performance is far better compared to that of the 2015 because this class was focused and exhibited teamwork, it was a well organised class”, Mujuni said.

He further attributed the successful performance to the conducive environment by the prison authorities.

The best candidate, Joram Hannington Lusonzi who got 20 aggregates is serving a 15 year sentence.

He has been on remand since 2012 over aggravated defilement.

The jubilant Lusonzi, 25, who dropped out of school in 2008 at primary seven, said he wants to join Advanced level and pursue his dream of becoming a lawyer in future.
