Army Intensifies Patrols along Moroto-Kenya road

The army has intensified foot patrols along the 35 kilometer Moroto-Kenya road in an attempt to fight thuggery. It comes in the wake of attacks on road users.
Last week two people were killed and another injured separate ambushes along Moroto-Kenya road. Lt. Jimmy Omara, the UPDF 3rd Division spokesperson says the army has decided to increase its presence along the road to ensure the safety of travelers. He says last week’s attacks on travelers shouldn’t worry communities.
He says an intelligence team has been deployed to track the gangs in the villages. Omara urges local leaders to mobilize communities to notify the military about gun wielding thugs in their areas.
Cosmas Ayepa, the vice chairperson Moroto district says few people are responsible for disabling the prevailing peace in Karamoja. He advises the communities to stop concealing criminals adding that they will always turn against them. Aype appeals to security forces to apply their detective skills those threatening the prevailing peace.
Losikiria Lotyang, a resident of Kakingol village urges the Tepeth and Matheniko clans not kill each other. He explains that the two ethnicity are one adding that, they share several cultural practices. He notes that killing one another because of greed and envy will not help Karamoja to develop.
