Uganda League defending champions Kampala City Council will look to continue their winning ways when they travel to Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku to face arch rivals Express on Friday though new coach Abdallah Mubiru will be in charge of his first game as head coach.
Mubiru was named head coach on Tuesday replacing former boss George ‘Best’ Nsimbe and is already aware of the threatposed by the 2011/12 champions.
“It’s a challenge but one we are ready for,” Mubiru said. “Express FC are playing well at the moment but my duty is to set my players both tactically and mentally,” he added.
KCCA FC are winless at Wankulukuku on the previous three visits all ending in stalemates but Mubiru believes the motivation of beating Express FC at their own home will spur his players.
“To me, this game means more than three points. The rivalry is intense and this is enough motivation ahead of the clash.”
Express FC got four points off the champions last season and Mubiru says this gives them a psychological edge.
“Psychologically, it makes them believe and gives them mental edge but we are enjoying good form.”
Team News: Brian Majwega, Isaac Ntege and Richard Kasagga are definitely out due to injuries while Yasin Mugabi (Malaria) is doubtful.
Form Guide: Express FC have lost just once in their previous 5 games (3-0 loss to SC Vila in a boardroom decision) with four wins in a row while KCCA FC have recorded five straight wins.
Tenth-placed Sadolin away to Soana, the other of the day’s four fixtures, also promises entertainment as the Jinja based side will want to keep breathing hard on Soana’s nape.
At Bombo military stadium, army side Simba will look to move back into the top ten when they host struggling SC Victoria University whose coach Morley Byekwaso is under fire to produce better results or face the knife.
Uganda Revenue Authority welcome Kira Young to Lugazi as Fred Nkata looks to bounce back from Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat at Lugogo as travelling coach. Kira are ducked in 13th place of the 16-team table and could fall further down into relegation zone if they take anything less than maximum points on the road tomorrow.
Unbeaten in nine games, Coach Edward Golola’s Vipers – leading the log on 23 points – are not in action till next week after beating a formidable Angelo Lonyesi Police side 2-1 on Tuesday to maintain their one-point difference with Villa who also mauled Entebbe 4-0.
