Besigye Beats Security Cordon, Attends Burial Of Fallen Kayihura Magistrate

Uganda’s Former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party Presidential candidate, Kizza Besigye on Friday beat a security cordon at his home and travelled to Sironko district.
Besigye whose Kasangati residence on the outskirts of Uganda’s capital Kampala had been ‘sealed’ off by the police, managed to leave his home for the burial of Richard Mafabi, the Makindye Court Chief Magistrate.
Mafabi, 51, died Sunday afternoon as he was being rushed to Mukwaya General Hospital in Nsambya, Kampala.
Mafabi came into spotlight about two months ago when he dared to summon the Inspector General of Police Gen Kale Kayihura and seven other senior officers to answer to torture charges for allegedly masterminding the beating of supporters of Opposition leader, Dr Kizza Besigye.
On Friday morning, most opposition leaders’ homes in Kampala had been ‘besieged’ by the police after it emerged that the FDC was planning to organise parallel independence day celebrations. Uganda celebrates 54 years of autonomy from the british on Sunday.
