Uganda Cranes Coach Bobby Williamson

Uganda’s national team coach Bobby Williamson has named the team that will take part in the Council of East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA) Tusker cup later this month.

Left back Godfrey Walusimbi has been handed the armband of the 30 man Uganda Cranes squad that will be seeking to retain the trophy they won last year.

The team that was announced Wednesday morning during the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) weekly press briefing will see goal keeper Abbey Dhaira deputize Walusimbi.

The tournament will run from the 24th of this month to December 8th

Last year, Uganda Cranes beat East African neighbors Kenya 1-0 in the finals to clinch a record 12th title. The cranes will begin non-residential training at Mandel national stadium Namboole next Saturday.

Meanwhile Somalia’s National Soccer team is expected to Jet in today thursday more than two weeks ahead of the (CECAFA) Senior Challenge Cup.

The horn of Africa nation will be the first nation to arrive in preparation for the tournament that draws 12 nations from East and Central Africa.

The insecurity in Somalia has been singled out as the reason why the ocean stars are expected ahead of time.

Goal keepers: Abby Dhaira, Yasin Mugabi, Ali Kimera and Hamza Muwonge.

Defenders:  Godfrey Walusimbi (Captain), Ivan Bukenya, Denis Iguma, Isaac Isinde, Joseph Owino, Nicholas Wadada, Joseph Ochaya and Edward Ssali.

Midfielders: Chrisestom Ntambi, Manco Kawesa, Moses Oloya, Martin Mutumba, Gift Ali, Matovu Sula, Juma Sadam, Brian Majwega, Joseph Mpande Mbolingo, Robert Omunuk and Geoffrey Kizito.

Strikers: Emmanuel Okwi, Hamis Kiiza, Steven Bengo, Umony Brian, Robert Ssentongo, Moses Oloya and Dan Sserunkuuma
