Bukanga By-elections: EC Postpones Nomination Dates

Uganda’s Electoral Commission has made partial changes in the nomination dates for the Bukanga County MP and Local council by-elections moving the nomination for all aspiring candidates from 5th and 6th to 11th and 12th November 2013.

According to a statement issued by Engineer Badru Kiggundu, the country’s electoral commission chairperson, the elections have been rescheduled due to the delayed release of funds for the electoral activities by the Ministry of Finance.

The Bukanga county seat fell vacant after the death of MP Gregory Matovu last month. Bukanga county constituency has a total of 61,001 registered voters and 135 polling stations. Display of the voters register will take place from today to 13th while issuance of accreditation tags to Political parties will start on the 11th-8th November.

Polling day and tally of votes remains on the 26th of November.
