NRM'S Dr Patrick Mutono was declared winner by the Electoral commission
Yothia Sajjabi, also an independent, managed to get 772 of the votes.
Forum for Democratic Change (FDC)’s Samuel Khalwa got 546 votes.
Other candidates were Eria Kashodo, who got 94 votes and the Democratic Party (DP)’s Said Zziwa, who got 127 votes.
The election was held to fill the void left by the demise of Hon. Stephen Malinga, also former Minister for Disaster Preparedness and Refugees.
Richard Oseku, an independent candidate, was disqualified from the contest just a day before the polls. Reports on polling day indicated that there was a low voter turn-out, resulting from a protest by some voters, over the candidate’s disqualification.
