Capt. Mukula, Deputy Speaker Aspirant Anita Among Mourn Archbishop Lwanga

Capt. Mike Mukula the ruling NRM Vice Chairperson Eastern Region and Bukedea Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Anita Annet Among have joined believers across the globe to mourn the renowned Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Kampala, Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, who died Saturday at the age of 68.

Archbishop Lwanga had taken part on Good Friday in the annual ecumenical Way of the Cross at Namirembe Cathedral, Kampala’s Anglican cathedral before he was found dead in his bed the following day, Saturday morning.

In his tribute, Former Soroti Municipality MP Capt. Mukula said; ‘’the world has lost one of the generals in the faith who was a father to many preachers of this generation and a true man of God. He was a man of God who was fit in any pair of shoes that was given to him. He carried a unique anointing and an undeniable gift of preaching that transformed many lives from all walks of life’’.

Mukula added that, ‘’Lwanga’s unexpected departure has taken away from us, for a time, the possibility of continuing to share with him. His sense of humour, wisdom, and leadership are just a few of Lwanga’s characteristics that we remember with gratitude’’, he mourned.

On her Part, Hon. Among who is vying for the Position of Deputy Speaker of the 11^th Parliament said the deceased shall be missed for his open mind and his spirit of true Pan-Africanist.

‘’We give thanks to God for all the work accomplished through his servant not only in his own country and church but throughout the whole world as well. At this time of mourning, we do so as children of God, keeping Hope and assurance in God that we shall meet again with this giant of Faith.”

Hon.Among added that the Country reflect over his days on earth and as believers thank God for his invaluable contribution to the growth and development of the Catholic Church and the spread of the gospel in the Region of East Africa and beyond.

‘’We, therefore, wish to admonish you to take solace in the Lord, because Archbishop Lwanga has faithfully served the Lord Jesus Christ and fought the good fight’’, added Among.

The late Archbishop Lwanga was born in 1953, and he was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Kampala in 1978.

Lwanga was appointed the first Bishop of the Kasana-Luweero Diocese in 1996. In 2006, he was appointed the third Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Kampala to succeed Cardinal Emmanuel Wamala who resigned.

Official mourning for the late Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga starts on Monday with mass at 10am at Rubaga Cathedral without the body.

On Tuesday the body leaves Mulago mortuary straight to his ancestral home at Kyabakadde along Gayaza road. Mass will be t 10am and the body will stay overnight

On Wednesday the body will arrive at Rubaga cathedral for mass at 10am. Viewing will be in front of the cathedral.

Burial will take place on Thursday with Mass starting at 10am at the metropolitan Burial grounds besides Rubaga Cathedral.
