CECAFA: Ethiopia Hold Kenya

GOtv CECAFA 2013
Zanzibar 2-1 South Sudan
Kenya 0-0 Ethiopia
Host Kenya were held to a barren draw by Group ‘A’ opponents Ethiopia in the Wednesday evening 2013 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup opener at the Nyayo National Stadium.

The Harambee Stars who had head Coach Adel Amrouche conspicuously absent from the bench were so wasteful infront of goal and started the match on a bright note making key inroads within the initial minutes but both Allan Wanga and David Gateri’s chances went wide from close range.
Ugandan referee Denis Batte got under scrutiny after denying Ethiopia a clear penalty in the 61st minute with Ethiopia had their chances on goal as their fast paced players forcing the Kenyans to commit fouls with David Owino and Aboud Omar getting cautions from rough tackles in the first half.
Zanzibar top
Zanzibar have kicked off their CECAFA campaign on a high seeing off their opponents South Sudan 2-1 at the Nyayo Stadium earlier on Wednesday.
The Island scored through Suleiman Salim in the first half and stretched the lead after 10 minutes from a Saleh Ahmed cross to send them top of the table before Fabiano Lako pulled in a consolation goal for the Sudanese five minutes later.
Uganda start their title defence on Friday against Rwanda, who they drew with goalless in a friendly recently.
