CECAFA| Kenya Eases Past Amavubi

Joackins Atudo

A Joackins Atudo penalty was enough to secure Harambee Stars a semifinals berth in the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup after overcoming Rwanda’s Amavubi Stars 1-0 in an edge to edge battle played at the Agha Khan stadium in Mombasa.
Despite putting a lackluster performance that failed to cement their case for the title, Stars will take solace in the fact that the solitary goal allowed them to scrape through to join joins neighbours Tanzania as the only teams to have qualified for the last four.
In the match, Stars struggled to find their footing for the entire first half with the midfield failing in their role of linking the defense and attack.
Centre forward Allan Wanga was forced in many occasions to fall deep in midfield to pick the balls leaving Jacob Keli with no support upfront.
The pint sized Keli had two chances all from tight angles in the first half being denied by the opposing keeper Jean Nndayishimiye, in the 31st minute while his second attempt in the 43rd minute went way off the mark.
