Eastern Uganda Rallied to Support the Patriotic League of Uganda

MK Leaders from Busoga Sub-region; Sam Nabeta and Denis Balondemu, have urged the people of Busoga and Eastern Uganda in general, to support the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) because it is Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba who will consolidate the peace and stability in Uganda, politics of national unity and revitalize national economy.

Sam Nabeta reminded the people of Eastern Uganda that the PLU deserves support because of the developments the country has achieved based on the right plan to transform Uganda and guarantee her stability which only can be consolidated by a rightful successor.

It should be remembered that the MK Movement, under the leadership of Muhoozi Kainerugaba, on Thursday underwent a significant transformation, rebranding itself as the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU). This decision was announced at a launch event held in Naguru, a suburb of Kampala, where over 100 prominent figures including government officials, lawmakers, and Gen. Muhoozi’s supporters gathered to witness the unveiling of the new identity.

Denis Balondemu , also a leader and supporter of Gen. Muhoozi from Busoga , says the PLU aims to rejuvenate a sense of patriotism among Ugandans and foster national pride and seeks to engage citizens in activities that promote national unity, good citizenship, and the protection of vulnerable members of society.

Balondemu and Nabeta , who are  key mobilisers of Gen.Muhoozi in Busoga and Eastern Uganda in general commended the people of Busoga for taking part in the protracted struggle that brought the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government into power in 1986, adding that to consolidate what the government has done, they should support PLU and Gen.Muhoozi.

During the launch, key government figures, including Daudi Kabanda, Agriculture Minister Frank Tumwebaze, Microfinance Minister Haruna Kasolo, and ICT State Minister Godfrey Kabbyanga Baluku, attended the event, underscoring political support for the PLU’s mission. Former State Minister for Primary Health Care Mike Mukula and other central committee members of the MK Movement also graced the occasion.MPs in hundreds attended and local government leaders.

PLU organization vows to combat corruption and wastage of public resources while advocating for environmental preservation.

The proclamation issued by the MK Movement’s Central Committee emphasizes the importance of patriotism and civic duty in achieving national unity, peace, and development. It outlines the PLU’s commitment to mobilize Ugandans to fulfill their civic responsibilities for the collective benefit of society.

“We the MK Movement … HEREBY CONSTITUTE ourselves into a civic organization and ASSUME AND ADOPT a new name and identity, the PATRIOTIC LEAGUE OF UGANDA, with the aim of working towards reviving in Ugandans a spirit of good citizenship, national pride, national service, protection of vulnerable persons, combating corruption and wastage of public resources, and protection of the environment,” the proclamation reads in part.
