EXPOSED: Anaya African Child Gift Foundation in trouble over accusations of political affiliation ,partisan activities

Anaya African Child Gift Foundation is under fire for being secretly and indirectly involved in politics by supporting politicians in its areas of operations mostly in Namutumba and Jinja districts.

Sources from Nsinze village in Namutumba district revealed that when the owner of this organization Mr Eric Kanayaka came to the district seeking approval to operate in the district, he got a lot of residences from leaders.

‘’When Mr Eric Kanayaka came to the district we had to first take him through the tough process because so many organizations had already stolen our people and they came in as Anaya came so we couldn’t give a soft entrance” A leader in Namutumba said.

He further added we didn’t know that telling someone to go through a process was a crime. Mr Eric Kanyaka started funding our opponents of Fdc by giving them money to help us go through and he indeed scored because I failed.

Mr Asuman Isabirye a councilor from Mazuba in Namutumba disclosed that they were spuscious about the organization and to date there are a lot of parents looking for the owner of the organization because he ran away with their money.

He further added I have evidence that Mr Eric Kanayaka sponsored my opponent from Democratic Party (Dp) though he failed but, in this country, there are laws that prohibit such organizations from joining politics. We demand those laws to work on Anaya African Child Gift Foundation.

‘’since he has been in our politics let him register a political party instead of civil society organization”

This is not the first scenario the organization is in, last year in December Police in Kiira region arrested Eric Kanayaka the country coordinator of Anaya African Child Gifts Foundation and Muwaya, on charges of fraud and obtaining money through false pretenses.

Mr Kanayaka was arrested on Tuesday from a hideout in Luuka district, alongside his assistant director, Mukhutal Mayanja. The two were accused of fleecing an unspecified sum of money from parents who sought bursaries for their children.

The government on several occasions has warned NGOs on their involvement in politics instead of doing the work they were registered to do.

On Friday 20th Aug 2021 Government of Uganda suspended the operations of 54 non-governmental organizations, a move that one of the groups described as “political persecution”.

The suspensions were ordered for a range of reasons, including non-compliance with regulations which require NGOs and other groups not to be involved in politics.
