Express FC were in the losing end when they hosted arch rivals SC Villa last week at the Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku. The visiting Jogoos condemned the hosts to a 0-2 defeat for their second win of the season and went second on the table after three games.
On their part, Express, who stay on four points from three matches, are currently fifth.
Express host Gaddafi FC this Tuesday, 18th April at Wankulukuku in a matchday four fixture of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL), a game the Red Eagles will seek redemption as they pursue a ‘suitable’ spot on the table.
Express Head Coach James Odoch is upbeat that his side will claim maximum points in front of the home crowd
“We lost our previous game against SC Villa but we are already focused on today’s game. We have planned very well to see that we win the game,” Odoch told the club website.
Former Express Coach Wasswa Bbosa will lead Gaddafi to Wankulukuku as their coach. Some of the Gaddafi FC players are former players as well so they will be in a familiar territory.
For Express’ Odoch, he believes that the return of Wasswa to Wankulukuku will create a derby-like atmosphere but his side will want to come atop.
“After losing the derby away to Villa last week, we come into this game looking forward to take the upper hand. Gaddafi is a good team but we have ticked all our boxes and I believe we will be the better side,” Odoch added.
In their previous meeting, the two sides shared spoils off a 1-1 stalemate.
Earlier in the day, Busoga United will play host to URA FC at Kakindu Stadium in Jinja.
