The incident happened at 8.00pm on Monday as the world celebrated the New Year 2015.

Police have identified the deceased as 34 year-old Loduk Losike, the father of 10 year old Abuk who was in the company of his father.

Both were residents of Nabilatuk village, Acerer parish in Nadunget Sub County.

John Omwony, the in charge crime desk at Moroto Central Police station, confirms the incident.

He explains that attackers aimed at the pair when they were in the kraal killing them instantly.

He believes that Losike was the target of the attack and his son unlucky to be with him at the time. He says the assailants did not carry away any property after the shooting indicating it was planned.

George Obia, the District Police commander says the motive behind the murder has not been ascertained.

He adds that in the last few days (29th December, 2014) towards the New Year, a 13 year-old boy identified as Lochaki was also shot dead at their home-Nakorikecho village in Tapac Sub County, Moroto district.

He says that the three murders could be related and investigations are underway to get to their root.

This brings to four the number of recorded homicides on January 01, 2015 in Uganda.

Similarly, a decomposing body of a young boy believed to be an eight year-old has been found dumped a few metres from Moroto Army  barracks quarter guard.

Both Uganda Peoples’ Defence forces intelligence and the police detectives combed the bushes to determine death of the infant but to no avail.

Capt. Denis Omara, the UPDF 3rd Division spokesperson says investigations into the matter have been commissioned.
