Former Cranes Striker Obua’s Mother Killed In Accident

Two people including Filda Obua Otim, the mother of former Uganda Cranes striker David Obua have died in a motor accident along the Lira-Kampala Highway. 

The other accident victim has been identified as Chris Akena. The accident occurred on Tuesday night at Namasa trading center in Nakasongola district.

Dick Ayesigomwe, the Nakasongola District Police Commander says the duo was killed after a Land Rover discovery vehicle registration number UAM 444S, in which they were traveling rammed into a stationary Mercedes Benz trailer number RAA 811 Q/ RL 0299. Two other peopleCharles Akora, the driver of the land Rover and Pricilla Akorawere injured critically and were rushed to hospital.

Ayesigomwe says that the trailer was packed alongside the road after it broke down on its way to Juba in South Sudan. Jimmy Akena, the MP Lira Municipality says that the deceased met their death while returning to Kampala from Serere district for a burial. Akena says arrangements are underway to pick up the bodies of Filda Obua and Chris Akena from Mulago hospital where they were taken for a postmortem.
