Four Arrested For Assaulting Census Enumerators And Stealing Register

Four people were on August 28, arrested for assaulting national census enumerators at Kalayi village, Bubyangu Sub County in Mbale district.
It was also reported that they grabbed a census register and took off with it.
The regional police commander identified the four on arrest as Isima Wanyata 38, Wakasa Emmanuel 19, Wangolo 21 and Bola Patrick the LC III chairperson of Busesa Sub County.
The four men, who were later arrested, were charged with assault and theft of census materials.
National censuses are carried out periodically to determine service availability to all and to streamline national development hence this year’s theme ‘together we count.’
The police since then warned all Ugandans against acts aimed at harming the census enumerators or damaging materials being used in collecting data.
