Four Dismissed From Police Over Torture

Police Disciplinary Court has found guilty five of its officers who acted unprofessionally towards a former employee of Mukwano Industries Ltd, Kasim Ssuuna.

The Court sitting at Police Forensic Laboratory,the disciplinary court chaired by Assistant Commissioner of Police Moses Ongom in its ruling this afternoon argued that prosecution proved that the five officers committed the offence and the evidence produced in court dully implicated them.
Four of the officers will be dismissed from the force while one will have his rank reduced.
Those that were sentenced to dismissal are ASP Asobasi Daniel Okumu – the commander of the group, Cpl. Odong Geoffrey, PPC Muwonge Patrick and PPC Lwanga Alafa. Sgt. Oswama Simon Peter was sentenced to a reduction in rank from Sergeant to Corporal.
The five are accused of discreditable or irregular conduct and scandalous manner contrary to code 12 and 14 of the Police Act.
Prosecution proved that the five collectively tortured, Kasim Ssuuna who had gone to the head office of Mukwano Group of Companies Ltd over compensation for losing his two fingers when a machine chopped them off – five years ago.
However, Suuna was denied entry at the gate and instead the policemen were called to reign in on him.
According to prosecution, Suuna was punched and stomped in his private parts, head and chest before he was bundled on a police pick up.
The convicts have 14 days within which to appeal to a higher court.
All of the Policemen/Officers deserved SUMMARY DISMISSAL, period!!! What you have not told the Public however, is how far the case has gone as far as compensation of the victim is concerned or it has DIED AS USUAL!!! Punish the Mukwano Manager too for the mess!!!
Ok this is good hope they do not turnout to be par of the Kiboko squad.
