Gen.Odongo Receives Office from Kutesa as MOFA Minister

Hon. Sam Kutesa, the outgoing Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda on Tuesday afternoon officially handed over office to Hon. Gen. Al-Haji Abubaker Jeje ODONGO the in-coming Minister.

The handover ceremony which took place at the Ministry Headquarters was presided over by the Permanent Secretary Amb. Patrick Mugoya.

Also, in attendance was Ambassador Charles Ssentongo the Director of Protocol and Public Diplomacy and Chief of Protocol, Amb. Arthur Kafeero the Director of Regional and International Political Affairs, among other officials of the Ministry.

In his handover speech, Hon. Kutesa welcomed Hon. Odongo to the Ministry and congratulated him upon his appointment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda.

Kutesa also commended the new Minister for the excellent working relationship he had with the Ministry while he previously served as the Minister of State for Defence and later on as the Minister of Internal Affairs.

He further appreciated H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the President of the Republic of Uganda for giving him the opportunity to serve as Minister of Foreign Affairs since 2004.

The Minister remarked that he is leaving Hon Odongo in good and capable hands of the Ministry staff that he credited for the unwavering support accorded him for the last 17 years.

On his part, Hon. Odongo thanked H.E the President as well for his appointment and conveyed a message of gratitude to the outgoing Minister, for the warm reception that was accorded to him further stating that his intention is to continue consulting him as he assumes this position of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Hon. Odongo Arrives at Mofa Offices on Tuesday

Amb. Mugoya re-affirmed to the incoming Minister, the provision of the Ministry’s necessary support and technical assistance required in the execution of his duties.
