Gen. Tumwine Accused Of Land Grabbing
General Ely Tumwine, the UPDF Member of Parliament has been implicated in land grabbing in Kiruhura district. General Tumwine is accused of conniving with Rev. Samuel Mugisha Katungunda, the Kiruhura district LC V chairperson and three businessmen to grab several acres of public land.
The businessmen are Abel Kahira, Joseph Kyapadora and Bosco Kiiza. The group is accused of encroaching on several acres of Public land in Kyabahura in Kazo County that was reserved for development projects.
The disputed land hosts Kazo Valley dam, Tangiriza dam and Rwanyamuzira dam. George Byaruhanga, a resident of Rwanyamuzira village in Kazo Town Council says that General Tumwine and his colleagues used their positions in Government to grab the public land.
He explains that the decision by the group to grab and fence off the land has denied them access to water for their domestic use and their animals. Peter Kankiriho, another resident particularly accuses General Tumwine of fencing off Tangiriza dam land, which is found in Rwemikoma Sub County.
Kankiriho wants president Museveni to intervene and force Tumwine and his friends to surrender the public land before they shade blood. Serwano Kabogorwa, the Kiruhura resident district commissioner has confirmed the land grabbing by the implicated officials.
He has however, says that with the recent directive from the president to Resident district Commissioners and District councils to safe guard public land, he will make sure the land grabbers vacate government land.
Records obtained by our reporter from Evans Ndyabawe, the District Land Officer show that the officials have occupied 18 acres of public land. Ndyabawe was happy to note that an enforcement team led by the RDC is already touring the district to reclaim public land from grabbers.
Rev. Samuel Katugunda, the Kiruhura, LC V chairperson has denied his alleged involvement in land grabbing. He faults Joseph Maira Mukasa, the outgoing Chief Administrative officer of conniving with the RDC Serwano Kabogorwa to taint his name in public.
General Tumwine who spoke to Uganda Radio Network on phone also rubbished the accusations against him for land grabbing. Tumwine said he has enough land and asked those tarnishing his name to “go and eat their words”.

I have never heard general Elly Tumwine involved in these skirmishes if these people have no evidence on what you are saying the general should take you to court of law for tainting his name.And if is true, the number of disciples remaining for president Museveni will be tending to zero as time goes bye.
