Algeria and Napoli left back Faouzi Ghoulam handed his side a major boost ahead of their AFCON opening game against South Africa when he resumed training after successfully recovering from a hamstring injury.

The player had been almost feared out of the competition with an injury but he returned yesterday and began training with the rest of the squad and it is likely that Algeria head coach Christian Gourcuff will include him on his starting lineup on Monday against the Bafana Bafana in Mongomo.

Meanwhile, towering centre back Rafik Haliche is yet to shake off a hamstring injury and continues to train alone and he bids to make his way back to the team.

Algeria arrived in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea on Thursday but will leave for Mongomo where they will play their opening match on Monday. The Desert Foxes are in group C alongside South Africa, Ghana and Senegal
