Hosts to welcome back National team stars for the NSSF KAVC International

The oldest and most popular club in Ugandan volleyball-Kampala Amateur Volleyball club (KAVC) will rely on the services of several national team players when their own tournament gets underway on 10th August a Lugogo indoor stadium.

KAVC provided four players in the just concluded zonal qualifiers for the world championship that were held in Lugogo and Nairobi. Both national teams for men and women progressed to the next round of qualification.

KAVC provided Eunice Nuwabigaba (setter) and Shila Buyungo (libero) in the women’s team while Savior Atama (middle blocker) and Emma Elanyu (libero) for the men’s team.

KAVC also had Meya Sam and Nsubuga Hannington as assistant coaches for me while Peter Buyungo was assistant coach for women.  The annual tournament that will be sponsored by NSSF for the 6th year running and rebranded NSSF KAVC International is held in memory of the club’s departed officials and also its living founders.

Meanwhile the local organizing committee has confirmed that the sponsors NSSF will announce their package at a press conference to be held on Tuesday next week at the company’s headquarters.

Mofaht Masaba who is the President of KAVC and doubles as chairman of the LOC revealed that they invited only APR and INATEK from Rwanda and have already confirmed participation.

Masaba believes that IANTEK who won the 2013 Rwanda Genocide Memorial in Kigali will provide the biggest test for the Ugandan teams.

The defending champions are KCCA for women and Sport S for men.
