Indian Investor Steals Car, Arrested
Top business man and an Indian investor who deals in selling and buying used motor vehicles has been arrested in a car robbery scam.
42 year old Papu Kaka, a resident of new Mulago in Kawempe Division Kampala district has been put under serious investigations after information had leaked to security that in his garage there is a suspected stolen vehicle.
It is said that there was a motor vehicle Honda CRV silver in color registration number UAJ 847L which had stayed longer in one of the houses around old Kampala police station and later discovered that it was taken away by unknown people and kept into Kaka’s garage in Mengo.
Police however went to visit Kaka’s garage to verify whether the suspected stolen vehicle is kept in his Garage.
Using documents from URA, Police discovered the real vehicle with no number plate but the city tycoon had changed the number plate and even changed the color of the vehicle without the consent of the Uganda Revenue Authority, something that brought intentions by police to arrest the city tycoon.
Papu Kaka in his statement that was taken by police officers, he stated that the vehicle was for his friend one Amir and that he is the one who sold it to him but when asked for original log book for the vehicle , it was nowhere to be seen .
Police later discovered that the stolen vehicle was cut into spare parts, changed from silver color to blue and registration number was also changed from UAJ 847L to UAH 920J without following the rules and regulations of URA .
Police file of the suspected motor vehicle registration Number UAJ 847L Honda Toyota CRV silver in color was opened up at Rubaga police Post under reference of SD/03/11/03/2015 as investigations into the matter are going on .
