Joy Doreen Biira Arrested In Kasese

The renowned media personality, Joy Doreen Biira is one of the people who are in police custody following unrest currently taking place in, Rwenzururu Kingdom, Kasese District.

Biira is a Ugandan media personality currently working with Standard Group Kenya as anchor/reporter with KTN Kenya.

This website understands that Biira was having an introduction party at her parents’ home in Kasese over the weekend.

Before her arrest, Biira Posted on social media platforms that;

It’s worth noting that since Saturday, there have been heavy gunfire in the Rwenzururu kingdom between security and kingdom royal guards that has so far claimed lives of over 60 people and many others arrested.

This unrest came when police and UPDF soldiers decided to run an operation to disarm the Kingdom royal guard which the guards reacted by engaging the security into a fight.

Meanwhile, the Rwenzururu king Charles Wesley Mumbere is under arrest after police suspected him to be the commander behind these royal guards.

However, the police spokesperson, Andrew Felix Kawesi called upon Ugandans to remain calm as police tries to settle the situation.
