THE KABAKA of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi ii has stung the central government for its refusal to release property belonging to the kingdom.

The Kabaka made the outburst while addressing thousands of his subjects at Liberation Square in Buddu County Masaka District on Saturday during the Buganda Youth Day celebrations.

“The central government’s refusal to return our belongings has hindered Buganda Government from achieving its goals and objectives since most of the Buganda officials at local levels lack where to operate and implement developmental projects,” he said adding that some buildings in government possession could have provided his representatives in different counties with office space for the smooth running of kingdom duties.

The Kabaka also urged his subjects to desist from endless wrangles which he noted have contributed to underdevelopment within communities in Buganda region. The visibly furious Kabaka also cautioned leaders within Buganda region against disunity saying it has affected service delivery. The Buganda Youth Day celebrations commenced on Friday with the Kabaka touring Kalisizo Health Centre in Rakai District, Kiwangala Health Centre IV in Lwengo, Rakai Health Science Project, Garden Courts Hotel, Ssenyange Education Centre and Masaka Town College School where he laid a foundation stone for the computer laboratory.

The celebrations attracted several dignitaries including the Katikkiro of Buganda Eng. J.B Walusimbi, ministers from Mengo, Masaka Municipality Legislator Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba, Masaka LC5 boss Joseph Kalungu, Masaka Town Clerk Johnson Baryantuma Munono, Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, Busiro East MP Medard Sseggona and Masaka Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Chris Owori Odoi among others.
