Kanyomozi Trounced As Namanya Retains USPA Seat
Mark Namanya, a Daily Monitor Columnist has retained his seat as President of the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) after sailing through elections opposed.
The elective General Assembly held at Lugogo Oasis Bar and Restaurant last Saturday also football commentator Patrick Kanyomozi defeated to the post of General Secretary by his former boss Swalley Kenyi of Vision Group by 16 votes.
National Council of Sports General Secretary Jasper Aligawesa Lauded the sports body for demonstrating a high level of democracy.
Elected members of the sports body can only serve for two terms, two years each.
One of Namanya’s tasks will be the issue of maltreatment of journalists the most prominent being recent fracas at Namboole Stadium when Uganda played host to Zambia that involved FUFA officials tossing around.
He however called for unity among journalists.
