Kawesi Vows To Produce Baguma In Court

The newly appointed police spokesperson Andrew Felix Kawesi has vowed to produce the former Kampala DPC Aaron Baguma to court to answer murder charges against him.
“I can assure the public that police will do whatever it takes to support the court process by producing Baguma,” Kawesi said.
Kawesi said this at his first media conference yesterday at Naguru police headquarters following his appointment as a new public relations officer replacing Fred Enanga.
He kick-started his duties by unveiling a deadly police driver who knocked down a Besigye supporter along Kyebando road last month.
The unidentified victim was cheering Besigye following his release from prison on court bail.
“We promise the public that we shall do whatever it takes to ensure that nobody is covered when he/she commits an unprofessional conduct,” Kawesi said.
Baguma is wanted at Buganda road court, alongside 8 others; including Muhammad Ssebufu (chief suspect), a car bond proprietor, to plead to charges of murdering Donah Betty Katushabe in October last year at Ssebufu’s pine car bond in Kampala. The deceased was accused of failing to pay a 9million debt for a car she had bought from Ssebuffu.
According to the Director of Public Prosecution, Mike Chibita, Baguma was allegedly seen at the scene where Katushabe was being beaten and tortured by Ssebufu’s men but he did nothing to rescue her, despite him being a person with authority.
Baguma has since failed to appear before court to answer these charges which prompted court to issue an arrest warrant to the police to produce him by 2nd September, 2016.
