Kayihura Shakes Top Police Officers


Inspector General of Police Gen Kale Kayihura has reshuffled three top police officers at the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police.

In a statement issued yesterday by deputy police spokesperson Polly Namaye, Kayihura has replaced Assumani Mugyenyi, the director of chief political commisariate with AIGP Yiga Fred.

Yiga has been tasked to ensure that a “culture of professionalism takes root among all personnel in the force, and fight indiscipline among others.”

Mr Assumani Mugyenyi been appointed as the new director of operations in the police force, replacing Mr Haruna Isabirye.

Mr Mugenyi is charged with “integrating all operational units of the police force such as police stations and posts among others duties.”

Mr Haruna will head ASTU which been made independent from the Field Force Unit.

“These transfers are normal, take immediate effect from the time of signing and are aimed at ensuring that the ratification campaign the police has embarked on gains ground so as to be more accountable, efficient and professional in delivering police services to the people of Uganda,” Polly Namaye said.
