Kampala Capital City Authority has ended a suspension of its operations after a day of closure citing threats and assault of its staff.

KCCA on Thursday in an impromptu press briefing announced an indefinite suspension of operations in fear of a possible attack on its head office at City hall by Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago’s Supporters who wanted to re-install him after his controversial impeachment.

Jennifer Musisi, the Executive Director of the authority said several of her staff had been assaulted while on duty.

However, in a press conference Friday evening, Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi and Frank Tumwebaze, the minister in charge of Kampala stated that KCCA will not be forced to close because of the actions of the hooligans.

Frank Tumwebaze said security measures have been put in place to ensure that operations of the authority resume smoothly with utmost protection guaranteed for staff.

Amama Mbabazi, the Prime minister pledged government protection to the staff of the authority. He adds that government cannot be held at ransom by a few individuals who want to destabilize the systems in place.

Amama added that government has put in place stringent measures to deal with such hooligans who want to cause lawlessness in the city.

He has appealed to Lukwago team to seek dialogue so that political problems can be resolved amicably. Lukwago has not yet responded to the latest overture from the government.

  1. It’s you Mr. Mbabazi to seek dialogue with Mr. Lukwago since it’s you who is hampering the LM from doing his duties. You can fool some people sometimes, but not all the people all the time. Tell Ms. Musisi to accord her boss to enter his office in peace.

  2. Its not confusion. Its a legitimate battle by the central government to to take back control of our city. We are tired of the reign of street thugs and criminals. We need a clean, organized, developing capital city.

  3. Eassy,Creat two KCCs. one for oposition and for Mussi and her NRM investors.

we want Two Govts in all parts of Uganda.

  4. It is only the police and the kibo squad who have the capacity to manhandle people. Can Musis show us photos of his staff being molested and explain why her ever ready police did not arrest those that molested them?

Musis and company. You say you are born again. Your lies confirm my belief that born again is a group of hypocrites who are material seekers using the innocent name of Jesus.

The order for you to reopen KCCA and the reactions from cabinet are a clear indication that you have been used to achieve one thing and if you do not watch out, you will soon be damped. Who will employ your type in private enterprise?

  5. Why is it hard for government officials to act humbly, peaceful, loving and wise in order to have their business run smoothly.
