KCCA To Aide Artistes In Fight Against Piracy
Artistes have agreed to work with Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) to fight against music piracy around the city, according to the chairman of federation of performing Artistes of Uganda, Mr Andrew Benon Kibuuka.
Mr Kibuuka also noted that this was one of the many resolutions that were reached during a recent meeting between Artists and KCCA officials led by the executive director Mrs Jennifer Musisi.
“As artists, we are determined to implement copyright as a means to fight piracy. It is the only way our products will be more profitable. I can confirm to you that KCCA has agreed to work with us as we embark on this fight. We believe that all musicians, actors, and comedians will join this struggle. What we are doing is good for the industry,” Mr Kibuuka said.
Also in the agreement, KCCA and the Artistes are to work together as the two bodies need each other, earmarking specific areas/places were concert posters are supposed to be pinned, reviewing the current KCCA charges per poster or banner pinned in the city and withdrawing of all charges that had been imposed on several artists during the Easter festival.
