Kenya, Ethiopia Storm Quarters

Hosts Kenya are through to the quarterfinals of this year’s GOtv Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup after beating Zanzibar 2-0 in their final Group A game in Nakuru on Tuesday.

The result saw Kenya go joint top with Ethiopia who had earlier beaten South Sudan 2-0. With the two teams having identical results after the group games, the winner of the group will be decided by the toss of a coin.
Azam defender Joackins Atudo drilled from the spot in the sixth minute after the exciting Francis Kahata was brought down in the box, leaving Atudo with no choice but to perfectly hammer a hard shot on the roof of the net.
AFC Leopards striker Allan Wanga then made it 2-0 in the 61st minute with an 18 yard screamer after engaging Jacob Keli in a neat one- two exchange.
South Sudan on the other hand finished bottom of the group with no point and have been bundled out of the tourney joining Somalia and Rwanda as the teams that will take an early flight home.
Stars needed another goal to secure top spot but in the end; they needed Duncan Ochieng to make a fine stop to preserve their clean sheet.
Kenya will now rely on the lottery of a toss coin while Zanzibar face a nervous few days as they wait to find out whether they qualify as one of the best third placed teams.
