With a toiled for 2-1 home win over Artland Katale at Mashariki ground on Thursday, Simba FC kept alive their unbeaten home run in this season’s FUFA Big League.
Goals from skipper Robert Kimuli and Joseph Kayira ensured that the Home Side came from a goal down to earn their third straight home victory of the campaign.
“It was a sweet win. We conceded early but I thank my team mates for the positive attitude and belief they kept for that massive come back,” revealed Kimuli.
The former Vipers SC skipper leads a number of experienced players that give Simba coach Eric Ndifuna hope of promotion.
The aging midfielder captained Bunamwaya to the 2009/10 Uganda Premier League title before falling twice at Uganda Cup finals in 2012 and 2013 with similar side.
The win was Simba’s third of the campaign, despite four defeats away from home. They sit 8th of the Rwenzori group with 10 points after seven games.
Meanwhile, Ndejje University hope to hit the summit of the group with an away win over Doves All stars in an Elgon unpredictable tie at Barifa grounds, Arua this Saturday.
With a game more, the Luwero based University are second on log, having similar 14 points with leaders Maroons FC but trailing with just a goal difference.
Coach Raymond Komakech is optimistic that his side will bounce back from a humiliating 1-1 draw against Simba at home in last game.
