Kira United FC coach Godfrey Kirewamato has lined up “plan B” as he his side welcomes in-form Simba FC at Kira grounds on Thursday evening.
The Hosts were unbeaten until a 2-1 away defeat to leaders Maroons in the last Elgon group fixture.
Kira is the most defensive side in the group, having conceded the least goals (5) in nine games and Kirewamato thinks they can remain strong at the back as well as improving on the attack.
“We are going to defend well but we must utilize home advantage and push hard for a win,” he said.
Simba recorded their fifth win of the campaign with a 2-1 win over Sporting United in the last game and moved third on log with 16 points after nine games, five shy of leaders Maroons.
The five wins though have all come from home and Coach Eric Ndifuna will be gunning for his side’s first away victory this Thursday against an unpredictable 7th placed Kira.
“It is high time we won away from home if we are to keep pace for possible automatic promotion to top tier,” observed Ndifuna.
Elsewhere, leaders Asaph Mwebaze’s Maroons FC hope to stretch lead to five points with a win against 11th placed Kyambogo.
The game between Sun City and Nyamityobora was postponed to later date due to insecurity in areas of Nyakasanga, Kasese district where is was scheduled to take place.
