FT: St. Juliana 1 Standard 2

Standard School Zzana joins St. Mary’s Kitende in the finals of the copa Coca-Cola championship after defeating St. Juliana in the second
semi final at Kabale Municipal stadium. With the first half ending 0-0 after St. Juliana’s Wahab Ghadaffi was
sent off for a second bookable offence, Standard came out a more offensive force in the second half but chances were too minimal as St.
Juliana’s defence looked invincible. However, coupled with a numerical advantage and poor refereeing decisions, Standard were gifted with a
questionable penalty kick after 42 seconds of the re-start to take the lead. Shafah Kafeero stood up to take the penalty and he poked the
ball too high from the goal keeper’s reach. St. Juliana kept fighting causing Standard several problems in the defence and their efforts
paid off with a nice header from Jerry Jakissa who put the ball beyond goal keeper Ronald Kayima’s reach off a free kick from the right wing
near the box. However, Standard fought back with Kafeero scoring the second with three minutes to play to send his school in the finals.
This will be a repeat of the group stages game on Saturday May 11,when Kitende won 1-0 in their group D game. St. Juliana will now play
St. Leo’s Kyegobe in the third-place play-off at 11:00am while the final will be played at 3:00pm.
