Kyambogo Kitchen Attendant Found With 120m

Kyambogo University main building. The University is set to increase functional fees to cover the drop in revenue

Police yesterday searched the office of the assistant bursar of Kyambogo University to gather  evidence that will link him to the tuition fees scandal at the institution.

The exercise went on amid tight security and it was difficult to tell what had been discovered from the office. The suspect has been in police custody since Saturday.

We however learned from one detective that a kitchen attendant, was found with Shs120 million on his personal account yet he earns  Shs 476,711 monthly. The detective said their preliminary investigations had shown that the same staff is sometimes assigned the role of office attendant, and he has been issuing fake cash receipts to students.

The investigations into the fraud allegations started last week after more than 2,000 students were listed as tuition fees defaulters, yet they claimed to have paid the fees.

  1. There may be a scandal similar to that at OPM. These thieves should cough back the money and be put on firing squad. The chancellor and his vice should just resign in public interest. If heads don’t roll, I will lose the last confidence I had in government about the fight against corruption. All ministries and institutions of government are just filthy with corruption. All officers connected should just resign.

  2. let them answer that is everywhere those bursars are fond of stealing our money

  3. Uganda is the only country in the world where thieves are treated like heroes and heroes are treated as mere historical books of records which are read to pass so bad countrymen.
