KYU GUILD BOSS DIES IN KANDAHAR
One of the guild bosses of Kyambogo University whose lifeless body was discovered in Kansanga last week has created a war between the Acting Vice chancellor Prof Asibo Opuda and the family of the deceased student.
Sources have revealed that Simon Peter Ogwang who was one of the guild members of Parliament at Kyambogo University was found dead in the arms of his girl friend. The decomposing bodies of the two were found in a one roomed rented house in Kansanga.
The girlfriend was a student at Kampala International University and they both come from Abim district where they were buried on Tuesday. It’s not clear which exact day they died although neighbors say they last saw the two on Christmas Eve last year.
A foul smell produced by the decomposing bodies is what drew residents to the house.
Kyambogo guild vice president Mackline Nawera told Red Pepper they buried their friend Simon Peter Ogwang in Abim where the parents of Ogwang almost beat up Warden Jackson Betihamah who led the University delegation.
Nawera says the University’s policy of chasing students from their halls to go for Christmas by force is what caused problems. “He was a poor boy from a very far away district. He didn’t have money to travel home because we had just come back after the strike. So that is why he went to live in the girl’s small room where they suffocated to death,” Nawera said.
She added that the postmortem report they got from police shows the two died of suffocation in their small room.
“They were cooking beans for the Christmas meal before fatigue forced them to sleep forgetting about what they were cooking on the stove. There was too much suffocation in the overcrowded room and police says it is what killed them. They died together and we are not sure if she was a girl friend or he just went to live there because he had nowhere to go after being chased from the university which we opposed as unfair but the management ignored our concern,” she said.
Nawera said that everybody was blaming university management for forcing students away for the Christmas season which was very few days yet they have exams starting January.
Sources said University bosses like University secretary Sam Akorimo had refused sending away students saying it would be expensive but they were over ruled by acting VC Opuda who said they must leave the University premises.
Nawera, who led hundreds of fellow students in the University buses for the burial, says the deceased’s father was very bitter and might consider legal action against the Ag Vice Chancellor for his son’s death.
“The man was very bitter. He really quarreled but we all kept quiet. Ogwang was the only one his sub county had at University; he was the district youth speaker and they had a lot of hope in him,” Nawera said adding that as guild bosses; they are planning to officially complain to the University council about this issue because it has given Kyambogo a bad name.
The neighbors in Kansanga didn’t know immediately of the death but were alerted by a foul smell coming from the deceased’s room and when they forced their way into the room, they were welcomed by two nude and lifeless bodies.

so sad. may they rest in peace
This is totally A SHALLOW & NARROW WEAK RUBBISH kind of REASONING!!! ‘Nawera says the University’s policy of chasing students from their halls
to go for Christmas by force is what caused problems. “He was a poor
boy from a very far away district. He didn’t have money to travel home
because we had just come back after the strike. So that is why he went

said…………………………………………………………………………………..’ I am not saying he deserved it but when you say,
‘it’s because of the university……… ‘ and put the blame on the university it sounds like nosence. some people are very extremely poor than that but do they sleep with women, or did he have on one friend? we need attimes to be fair not to be biased, can you convice someone that the so called ‘One of the guild bosses ‘ can fail to get 35,000-60,000Ug shs for transport back home?? who i trust gets even some little allowances?
NO NO, this is what is spoiling Uganda, no one is realistic and they behave as if they are blind. I am out of this!
I have stayed in Europe but there is no ‘telling lies and corruption’ basically where i am and thats why they are moving on and highly developed.
MAY HE RIP!!
yu stayed in europe ???? no wonder
Kabanda, you are either talking shit or just want this forum to know that you are in Europe; which also is substantially shitty.
If you think Europeans do not tell lies, it is little wonder that you are subjugated to them in their country now.
God I hate these villager immigrants! Like you, Kabanda.
Next you’ll call yourself Smith Kabs or some such poop.
Was this room locked outside?,doesn’t it have any ventilation?,I can’t buy this argument people to suffocate to death.Police stop fooling us investigate this murder and let justice be done.
I am with you Adada. This story is disturbing because You cant suffocate without a fight for breath. As story goes, they died arm in arm. This could have been a set-up murder. We need facts not assumptions.
so who should be held responsible for these peoples death,?
they say poor people may not see heaven. one, because they can’t afford school fees to learn how to read and write so how will they read the bible or karan to know the Gods words but only listen to rumors from street preachers and “bible kiosks” in form of born-again churches. now the poor boy dies sinning they say because he didn’t have money and this is poverty. keep praying but even heaven is meant for a few. RIP.
I jas have one question here, what will the university loose allowing these kids to stay for a couple of days (festive season), i still dont get it? I remember in Mubs the halls were open even during holidays same to MUK. What was the point? I still dont get it.
